During the October 9, 2023 Players Club meeting, the members learned from Craig Stults of a $5,000 grant that he had applied for and was approved from the City of Lincoln that is intended to enhance the theatrical programs of the Players Club. Craig asked Jim Moon to explain what how the funds will be applied to be used for the improvement of Presentation Hall at Kilaga Springs Lodge and the Ballroom at Orchard Creek Lodge.
Jim Moon provided a history of the Lighting Control Panels at both Lodges. Unreliable and underperformance of the current Lighting Control Panels riddled the crew from performing tasks critical to stage lighting. The $5,000 will be part of enhancing both performance venues which is now in the hands of the Properties Committee for further evaluation. The new system has the ability, using CAD (computer-aided design) to draw out the exact measurements of both stages, sets and characters remotely so all of the detail work will be completed ahead of time making life for the Technical Crew easier and more professional. Both systems would be in the $10,000 to $13,000 range of which the $5,000 grant funds would be applied plus an additional $1,422 will be contributed by the Performing Arts consortium comprise of the Players Club, SCLH Chorus, The Tap Company and Vaudeville. the cost down considerably for SCLH.

Players Club Awarded Grant
In Sept. of 2022, the City of Lincoln offered grants to non-profits who contributed to the various well-being aspects of citizens of Lincoln. This money came from Federal Covid-19 funds that were not utilized by the City.
Craig Stults wrote a grant request establishing a reserve fund for equipment belonging to the Players. The grant was awarded in the amount of $5,000 with the provision that it be used for new or repair of Players theatrical equipment. These funds will be kept in a separate fund and utilized specifically for Players Club items.
We certainly thank the City of Lincoln for this grant.
The Players Club ultimately donated the $10,000 grant to Lincoln High School and Twelve Bridges High Schools drama club for the enhancement of their programs.

We are saddened to inform you that Sandy Klagge passed away on October 18, 2022. Sandy had a great sense of humor and was a friend to many here in Lincoln Hills. Sandy performed as a dancer and actor. From Sugar Babies to countless roles in Readers Theatre. As Nurse Kelly in Harvey, Melissa Gardner in Love Letters and Phyllis in Sylvia.
It is with a sad heart we must inform our members of the passing on April 14th of Bill McCarrel at the age of 96 in his Sun City Lincoln Hills home. Bill was a long-time Players member with a long performance record in main stage and Readers Theatre productions. One of his most beloved performances in 2008 in Teahouse of the August Moon as “Sakini” showed his great comic timing.
Jon Solander, a member of players for many years, and a very capable tech person for many shows, passed away on March 13, 2022.
The Players Club is the recipient of a generous donation from the Tahoe Regional Arts Foundation. The Foundation closed up its operations and was left with funds that needed to be distributed to non-profit entities, such as performing arts groups. Keith Vogt, the former Chairman of the Board, was able to secure a sum of $10,000 for the Players, depleting the Foundation's funds. We thank Keith for this generous offer...which will be used for some major improvements in conjunction with SCLH.
